Ashley Hodson has agreed new terms and signed a contract extension with Liverpool FC Women.
Fans are elated with the forward who is “over the moon” to commit her long-term future to the Reds.
Hodson rose to first-team action with Liverpool after graduating from the club’s centre of excellence. Her first senior appearance was back in 2014 when the Reds won their second consecutive Women’s Super League title.
The 23-year-old striker was massively set back when an anterior cruciate ligament injury forced her to the sidelines in 2018. Hodson has since made a fantastic recovery and has come back fighting.
She has made six substitute appearances for the first team this campaign – scoring on her returning match against MK Dons.
What to expect
There’s just three games to go in the WSL before this 2018/19 season comes to a close. Liverpool have encountered some twists and turns, but are confident about their next campaign.
Hodson sees this upcoming season as her chance to really shine following her injury. In a recent interview she said: “I feel next season is a big season for me and I hope I can push on to be the best I can be.”Embed from Getty Images
With Vicky Jepson only becoming the permanent LFC Women manager six months ago, fans are still yet to really experience ‘the Jepson era’.
Signings and transfers are a mystery so far, but Hodson could definitely inch her way into the starting eleven. The manager was full of praise for the No.36 following her contract renewal: “Ash has shown true resilience with the injury she picked up. She’s worked so hard to get back on the field and it’s been great to have her back.
“For me it’s another tick to get her over the line and in our squad for next season.”
