Caoimhín Kelleher – 7

Can be pleased with his senior debut between the sticks. Had to make some really important saves towards the end of the game. Deserved clean sheet after keeping out Hiram Boating from close range.

Ki-Jana Hoever – 8

Solid defensively throughout and a goal to boot. Towering header off a floating Milner cross to seal the tie.

Dejan Lovren – 6

Looked edgy at times. Sam Nombe was a real handful. Did make a last-ditch challenge to keep the score at 0-1.

Joe Gomez – 6

Looked rusty but will be delighted to get ninety minutes under his belt. Read the game very well to gain possession of a few loose balls.

James Milner – 8

A goal and assist. Top performance from the thirty-three-year-old whose experience was crucial. Pretty fortuitous goal to give Liverpool the lead.

Naby Keïta – 6.5

Played sixty minutes and hardly put a foot wrong as the Guinean eased himself back into first team.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 7

An exemplary performance from the midfielder who was denied by the post midway through the second half. Plenty of intelligent runs.

Adam Lallana – 6.5

Looked really comfortable in the number ‘6’ role. Lots of swivels, tricks and turns. Pleasing on the eye.

Curtis Jones – 8

Was the Sky Sports man of the match. Performance, like Harvey Elliot below, deserved a goal. Drove forward and was always looking to beat his man and get a shot away.

Harvey Elliott – 9

A 16-year-old who has an amazing future in front him. Was denied by the woodwork twice but was a constant menace and never gave up. My man of the match.

Rhian Brewster – 6

A frustrating night for the England youngster. Worked hard throughout but chances never really fell his way.

Pedro Chirivella (Keïta 63′) – 6

A few nice touches and kept possession well. Hardly enough time to make a big impact.

Herbie Kane (Oxlade-Chamberlain 82′) – N/A

Sepp Van den Berg (Hoever 90+2′) – N/A
