Liverpool secure three points at home against Fulham whilst Chelsea and Arsenal both drop points. The Reds are now second in the table, just two points behind leaders Manchester City.
Liverpool bounce back from their shock loss to Red Star Belgrade in Europe with a win at Anfield. Mohamed Salah’s unstoppable speed and Xherdan Shaqiri’s wonderful cushioned volley was the difference between the two sides.
Alisson Becker – 6
The Brazilian wasn’t called upon many times due to the nature of the game. He was calm and collected throughout, however, his first-half blunder could’ve been costly for Liverpool.
Trent Alexander Arnold – 6
His display against Fulham was a much better defensive performance. He bagged himself a great assist to set up Salah. Although, Alexander-Arnold’s distribution with the ball was still poor, particularly with crosses and set pieces.
Joe Gomez – 6
Provided good transitional play with his passing early on in the first half that lead to a chance for Sadio Mané. He did, however make a mistake in which Ryan Sessegnon should have capitalised on.
Virgil van Dijk – 7
An assured performance from the Dutch international who started the game as captain.
Andrew Robertson – 8
A great performance by the Scotsman, was lively in both defence and offence. He provided the assist for Liverpool’s second goal with a deep cross to Shaqiri just eight minutes after the break.
Fabinho – 7
Made a slow start but improved steadily as the game progressed. Always looked to acquire possession from loose balls and aggressively pursued the ball to make important interceptions.
Georginio Wijnaldum – 6
Was ineffective with the ball and suffered from a quiet game today.
Xherdan Shaqiri – 9
Today’s Man of the Match. Shaqiri was energetic both on and off the ball. Always looking to play a cross-field pass to Mané or Salah to stretch the opposition’s back line.
Looked to pick up the ball in pockets of space and advance. Pulled the strings today and was Liverpool’s most important player. Rewarded for his good work when he peeled off at the back stick and finished Robertson’s cross with a superb strike.

Sadio Mané – 6
Was lacklustre in front of goal and his touch was below par too many times. Despite this, the Senegalese winger created a few good chances for his teammates.
Mohamed Salah – 7
It looked to have been a subdued first half for Salah until the 41st minute. The Egyptian latched onto Alexander-Arnold’s pass and finished off a quick counter attack following Fulham’s offside goal.
Roberto Firmino – 6
Another passive game for Firmino, however it could be argued that without teammates’ lack of ruthlessness, he may have notched an assist or two.
