Jordan Henderson captains Liverpool for the 195th time against RB Leipzig on Tuesday night, the midfielder believes that unity will get the reigning Premier League champions out of the current form they’re in.

The last two seasons have been trophy-filled as the Reds skipper got his hands on the Champions League, Super Cup, Club World Cup and Premier League trophy.

He has been forced to play further back to what he is used to as a result of the growing injury crisis that the Reds have suffered this season.

Speaking to BT Sport’s Des Kelly, Jordan Henderson said:

Everybody makes mistakes, but the mistakes we have made in the last few games have cost us.

Liverpool have suffered three straight defeat following defeats to Brighton, Manchester City and Leicester City.

Goalkeeper Alisson made three uncharacteristic mistakes against Pep Guardiola and Brendan Rodgers’ sides respectively.

As a result, the Reds shipped seven goals in three games. It’s a run that many of the current crop at Anfield haven’t experienced, the Liverpool number 14 said:

It’s a tough period, we haven’t experienced for a long period of time. It’s unfamiliar to a lot of us. We’ve got to adapt and deal with it as best as we can as a team.

In his pre-match press conference on Friday, the former-Sunderland midfielder said the blame lies with the players:

[We take] Full responsibility. I know the manager tries to protect us. It’s down to us, we have to keep fighting. Hopefully, we can do that tomorrow.

The Premier League champions travelled to Hungary on Monday night ahead of their relocated first leg against Die Roten Bullen.

Julian Nagelsmann’s side are currently five points off reigning Bundesliga and European Cup champions Bayern Munich, on the Saxony club, Henderson said:

Leipzig are a very good side. Everybody knows they’re a very good team. We have been going through a tough period but we can take positives, we just have to do it for 90 minutes.
