Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits that he has been denied the ability to sign a defender during the January window.

It has long been rumoured that Liverpool were financially unable to bring in any defensive cover this window. However, Jurgen Klopp had yet to speak out against the club. That is, until now.

Klopp has broken his silence and acknowledged that he did in fact request that the club sign another central defender, but was denied.

Speaking to the press ahead of Liverpool’s FA Cup clash with Manchester United, Klopp stated that transfers are “out of his hands”.

“I cannot spend the money. I don’t make these decisions. There are people who are responsible for the whole thing, and I cannot make their decisions.”

Like many frustrated Liverpool supporters, Klopp admits that this is “not a situation that you want” but still is showing belief that the squad can turn things around before it is too late.

Just days ago, former Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren said that him and Klopp still stay in touch. The defender added that Klopp admitted to missing him.
