As one of the busiest transfer deadline days in recent Liverpool history kicks into gear, the news comes thick and fast.

Schalke’s Ozan Kabak is reportedly set for a medical at Liverpool, with preparations being made for a potential loan move to Anfield.

This deal will have an option of a permanent move in the summer.

A defensive crisis never seen before has been the catalyst for the rush to sign a defender before Monday’s 11pm deadline.

Preston North End’s Ben Davies looks set to complete his £2million move from the Championship to the Champions.

Fans were sent into a frenzy as news broke last on Sunday night of Liverpool’s pursuit of Duje Caleta-Car with planes being tracked of a potential move to Merseyside.

Accompanied by a cryptic post by his girlfriend, Monday morning saw timelines filled with the latest on the Croatian.

However, Olympique Marseille were reportedly reluctant to sell the 24-year-old until they had a replacement lined up.

Likewise with struggling Schalke, as their torrid form suggests, they are in dire need for improvement and wouldn’t sell the Turkish 20-year-old until a back-up was found.

Recent developments suggest that he is edging closer to a move to Merseyside as preparations for a medical were being made.

How did Liverpool fans react to the news?

Some of the Liverpool fans spoke of the excitement as the Reds went into their scouting archives for the youngster.

“Big if true” said one fan.

Whilst other fans, simply responded with just a W – which in modern terms means a win or a dub.

Liverpool have seen links with Arsenal outcast Shkodran Mustafi over the last few days.

Many Reds dreaded the thought of the World Cup winner at Anfield, one fan boldly said he’d take ‘anyone but Mustafi’.

Sunday’s 3-1 win over West Ham saw Jordan Henderson and Nat Phillips line up as part of the centre-back pairing for the Reds.

With Henderson as the makeshift defender and Phillips being in his infancy as a Premier League centre-back, they both put on a solid defensive display.

However, not all fans were too impressed with the move for the 20-year-old.

As well as this one fan had his doubts but was glad it wasn’t Mustafi.
