Liverpool In Talks For Behind Close Doors Match With RB Salzburg

In the past 12 months Liverpool have been in close contact with Austrian side RB Salzburg. The Reds have three of their iconic football products in Naby Keita, Sadio Mané and the most recent addition to the squad Takumi Minamino. The Red Bull side put in a great fight when they faced the Premier League Champions in the Champions League tournament, with two legs that although ended in victories for Liverpool, they were entertaining matches to watch , full of great talents and incredible football being played, but it appears as the Reds will get another chance at facing the Austrian champions, with a ‘training’ match in the work for both sides.

The Reds have not announced any upcoming matches in regards to pre-season friendlies amid concerns of the COVID19 pandemic. Liverpool travelled to Saalfelden in Austria for their pre-season training, and plan on spending the upcoming days preparing for the 2020-21 campaign there.

We’ve learned that Liverpool have been in recent contact with RB Salzburg, and are close to agreeing a behind close doors friendly match while at Saalfelden. The two sides are keen to continue building their close relationship, which has been developing over the last 10 months.

This is a great opportunity for the Reds to take a look at Salzburg’s upcoming gems and great talents that they have in the squad. Liverpool are no secret admirers of the Red Bull players, as recent reports revealed that the Reds were watching Hee-chan Hwang before his recent move to RB Leipzig, Takumi Minamino who’s interest ended up materializing and securing him a move to Anfield, and even other players such as Dominik Szoboszlai, and Mërgim Berisha couple of years back.

One to definitely keep an eye on is Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai. The in demand 19-year old has recently been quoted flirting with the Liverpool side on his admiration to the club, the stadium, fans, and even the German Manager. “I really like Jürgen Klopp. The kind of human being he is, the way he inspires the team, that they can come back from any situation, to me he is the best coach in the world.” said the player to Dr. Csisztu Zsuzsa in her youtube channel.

He continued: “Before games I can’t wait to get on the pitch. I don’t get nervous. I was only nervous in one match in my entire career [against Liverpool] at Anfield. It’s a cauldron. The [atmosphere] it’s really good!” It is no secret that he is an admirer of the club, and it appears that even Klopp likes the player as it was shown that the German manager interrupted Szoboszlai in an interview after their Champions League match to congratulate him for his great performance against the Reds.

Will any players manage to impress Klopp during their encounter in Austria? It will certainly be an interesting to watch, with some great talents in display and after the Minamino transfer anything is possible in terms of impressing the manager, specially considering reports claimed the Reds made their final decision on signing him after his impressive perfomance against Liverpool in the Champions League.
