Liverpool got their Champions League knockout stage campaign off to a flyer with a 2-0 win away to RB Leipzig.
The game was played at the Puskas Arena in Hungary rather than the Red Bull Arena due to Coronavirus restrictions.
Liverpools players reacted on social media following the win in a number of ways.
Andy Robertson’s Reaction
No words needed for Andy Robertson as a thumbs up will suffice. An acknowledgment from the Scotsman than the job has been done away from home in what was a tricky task against a good Leipzig team.
Thiago and Unity
Since going from competition holders Bayern Munich in the summer, Thiago has come under some criticism in regards to his performance. The message ‘unity is strength’ is attached to a picture of his teammates.
The Reds will only succeed together this season if they play as a team and stick together. This feels like it has been missing as of late but more performances like tonights will help bring back that feeling of invincibility.
Liverpool Right-Back Trent Alexander-Arnold
Trent Alexander Arnold put in a good performance and his message afterward is just as good. The theoretical hard part of the tie is complete but we’re only half way there.
Liverpool welcome Leipzig to Anfield in three weeks time, where they will look to dispatch the German side and progress into the last eight.
Kabak With A Bang
What a club European debut it was from the 20-year-old Turkey international. Steady and secure, alongside Jordan Henderson they thwarted any danger that Die Roten Bullen flung at them.
For the cause, they earned a clean sheet too. Overall a great performance from the Reds in Budapest.
Saturday sees Liverpool in another dog fight, this time against local rivals Everton at Anfield as they look to reaffirm their top four credentials.
