Liverpool were in the final stages of signing Watford’s Ismaila Sarr before pulling out at the last minute. According to the player’s agent, Sarr was about to sign the contract before the Reds pulled out of the deal.

Thierno Seydi, Ismaila Sarr’s agent, had his say on the transfer and the pandemic health crisis.

“With Liverpool, a few days ago, we were at the stage of signing the contract to bind the Reds to Ismaîla Sarr. Everything was set, the monthly salary and the length of the lease. I even asked Sadio Mané to find him an apartment.”

The agent mentions that the deal was so far along that he asked Sarr’s good friend and national teammate to find the young winger an apartment in Liverpool.

Liverpool Ended Negotiations in the Last Minute

However, it seems that due to finances the Merseyside club pulled out of negotiations at the last minute.

“But in the end, the English club could not put 40 million euros on the table to finalize this case. That is to say, if the English clubs, which once hosted the transfer window, are having difficulty in raising funds, this reflects the depth of the crisis affecting football.”

Sarr’s agent also mentions that Liverpool’s rivals Manchester United were also interested in signing the winger. However, the Manchester side wanted to take him on loan without an option to buy.

“Watford did not accept because the loan should be accompanied by a put option with pre-emptive right for the Manchester club.”

Thierno Seydi on Manchester United’s interest

Ismaila Sarr has been quoted in the past showing his admiration for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp.

“Liverpool are a really great team, everyone would love to play there. They won the PL this year and the CL last year”

Sarr is definitely on Liverpool’s radar and will be one to watch this summer.
