Polish Midfielder Jan Biegański rejected the chance to join Liverpool during the January window. After firm interest was shown by Jurgen Klopp’s Reds, the 18 year-old decided to stay in his native country of Poland.
Polish outlet SportoweFakty called him “one of the most talented Polish footballers of the young generation” along with other high praise.
Liverpool were just one of many European clubs to show interest in Biegański. The Reds faced stiff competition from Arsenal, Chelsea, and Lazio to name a few.

“There is no point in going deep into a foreign club right away. History shows that many guys come back from there and have problems breaking into PKO Ekstraklasa“
– Jan Bieganski on a move abroad
‘[turning down Liverpool] was not easy ‘
The young midfielder made the very mature move to stay and hone his craft before moving to a European giant like Liverpool. Much like another Liverpool target, Jeremy Doku. Doku rejected Liverpool’s advances in favour of a move to a stepping stone club, Stade Rennais F.C.
Much like Doku, Jan Biegański sees his next move being to a club abroad.
My opinion is that if I manage in Lechia Gdańsk, the next step will be abroad. However, I am fully aware that I have to work and develop step by step.
Jan Biegański on his next move
The young midfielder has stayed in Poland with Ekstraklasa side Lechia Gdańsk. He hopes that this will continue to provide him with regular game time and a place to grow and hone his craft.
The 18 year-old stood by his decision saying,
I believe that I have chosen the best path, also in this respect. I am convinced that this is the right moment to take a step forward
Liverpool target Jan Biegański
The young midfielder has already moved past this and is focusing on the U19 European Championship with Poland. Will Liverpool make another move for him in the future?
