Mbappe leaves door open for Ligue 1 exit

After a week of speculation, press conferences and Twitter hype, Kylian Mbappe and his entourage has hinted that playing in Ligue 1 for PSG is limiting his potential.

On January 10th 2021, I wrote about the possibility that Kylian Mbappe could be joining the Premier League Champions, Liverpool Football Club. Today, we see version 2…

He believes that playing for the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City and… yes you guessed it, Liverpool, would be better for his career (as quoted by @le_parisien_PSG).

The 2018 World Cup winner is yet to sign a new contract for Paris St. Germain and speculation about his future has been rife.

It seems that the sensational superstar wants more than what Ligue 1 has to offer to ensure he cements a legacy in world football.

At present Mbappe’s contract with PSG expires in 2022; Mauricio Pochettino and his new bosses face the conundrum of losing him on a free next summer, or cash in on the wonderkid if he is unwilling to sign a new deal.

To complicate matters further for the French superpowers, Neymar’s contract is also set to expire next year.

Unless the hierarchy at PSG are willing to part with their cash and offer lucrative deals (although in honesty, it is easily done with the QSI) it seems they have to pull a rabbit out of the proverbial hat to resign the dynamic and deadly duo.

Why The Deal Works

Although I feel with Mbappe, it is no longer about the size of his wage packet.

As mentioned in my previous article (a shameless plug I know), Fenway Sports Group and Kylian Mbappe are an American/Nike partnership made in heaven.

Mbappe is a cash machine in the making and both parties will be rubbing their hands together with the prospect of shirt sales, merchandise and silverware.

Also, imagine the world’s greatest young prospect under the tutelage of the greatest manager in the world – the limits are endless.

“We are not going to beg: ‘Please, stay.’ It is more calculated than that. Those who really want to stay will stay. We speak regularly and I have good feelings on both of those matters.”

PSG Director, Leonardo

FSG have (maybe rightly, unless a big summer is incoming) come under strict scrutiny since Jurgen Klopp has openly admitted he asked his backers to fund him the money for a much-needed centre back.

Questions That Need Answering

Some Liverpool fans are once more calling for FSG’s heads on a platter after not investing at the back, but … what if…

What if John Henry et al. are planning a summer coup?

What if a Kylian Mbappe is high on the priority list?

Will we sacrifice this years’ league title in order to secure three more (at least) in the future?

Virgil Van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Naby Keita, Thiago, Diogo Jota are yet to come back into the fray to add to the likes of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Mo Salah, Sadio Mane etc.

After all, if you believe the speculation that has been widely touted by journalists, Liverpool are planning for a big summer…

Just imagine the rest of the Liverpool squad plus Kylian Mbappe – we would set the world on fire!

Why Mbappe?

Many fans are calling for a different summer signing: a big signing in the frame of Erling Haaland is being touted, but that is unlikely given his agent is Mino Riola.

Whilst I am a huge fan of Haaland, I fail to see how FSG/Klopp would placate the needs and desires of Riola; Liverpool are never held to ransom.

Ultimately the choice is Mbappe’s: he has the pick of the bunch; he is a commodity in which any club will welcome him with open arms.

The decision at its conclusion lies within Kylian Mbappe; he has never hidden his desire of being crowned ‘the best player in the world’.

It is his ultimate desire to be the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be… and who better than to expose this… than Jurgen Klopp?

Up the Reds, stay safe, YNWA
