Lewis and Tsimikas
Liverpool have had a £10million bid for Norwich City defender Jamal Lewis rejected. Norwich value the 22-year-old at £20million, but are reportedly unhappy with the Red’s conduct as they consider the first offer ‘derisory’.
The prospect of a part-exchange deal involving Liverpool youngster Yasser Larouci, 19, is, at this stage, unlikely. The Canaries signed Sam McCallum from Coventry City in January and manager Daniel Farke sees him as a ready-made replacement.
Lewis, moreover, is keen to work under Jurgen Klopp and accepts he will initially be a bit-part player if he signs. So given Lewis’s desire to make the switch, Liverpool are expected to return with a second offer. Watch this space – @LFCTransferRoom.
There are alternatives, however, and Olympiacos defender Kostas Tsimikas is one of them. Whilst not at the top of Jurgen Klopp’s wishlist, the Reds could negotiate a cut-price fee in the region of £10-15million. Tsimikas, 24, is a front-footed left-back capable of operating in a more advanced role.
According to @SporTimeGreece, Leicester City are also monitoring Tsimikas’ situation with Brendan Rodgers resigned to losing Ben Chilwell to Chelsea.
Young Brazillian Talles Magno of Vasco Da Gama – here’s some info on the player – is being tracked by the Anfield club (that’s if you believe @yahooesportes). According to the report, his price-tag is somewhere in the region of €20million and Liverpool have even gone as far as to make contact with the club.
Ismalia Saar – the Watford forward – is another player on the radar. The Time’s Paul Joyce confirmed this week that the Senegalese is being considered. But the Hornet’s valuation of Saar will be ‘hefty’ given they signed the player for £30million from Rennes last summer.
Joyce’s report also reaffirms that Thiago Alcantara is not being pursued by the club. But that could change IF Liverpool were to lose Gini Wijnaldum who has just one year remaining on his current contract. As yet though, there’s no suggestion that the Dutch international is looking to leave.
German news outlet Kicker also asserts that Liverpool will ONLY look to sign Thiago if they can accrue enough capital from sales. Loris Karius, Larouci, Marko Grujic, Harry Wilson, Xherdan Shaqiri, and Divock Origi, among others, could all exit the club this summer.
- PSG boss Thomas Tuchel and Sporting Director Leonardo are admirers of Liverpool defender Joel Matip and are ready to make an offer. The French Club see him as the ideal replacement for Thiago Silva. (Kick442)
- Newcastle are interested in Liverpool youngster Harry Wilson. The Reds value the player at £30million, but will have to significantly reduce their asking price if they are to secure a sale given the current financial climate. Manager Steve Bruce could try and pursue a loan deal. (The Northern Echo)
- A move for Brighton defender Ben White is being considered. The centre-half ‘was scouted extensively last season’. The Reds are, of course, in the market for a Dejan Lovren replacement. (@LivEchoLFC)
